Frida D.

Frida’s creative journey began at a very young age. Even back then, no coloring book was safe from her, and no comic remained uncolored. She would draw chalk spaceships on asphalt, weave bracelets, and design things. Frida was always tinkering with her hands. However, in art class, she hit her limits, as the monotonous task of copying images bored her, and she initially lost interest in creative endeavors.

In 2012, she enrolled in the study of Graphic and Communication Design at the Rhein-Sieg Academy for Realistic Fine Art and Design in Hennef. There, she was particularly drawn to subjects such as painting, calligraphy, life drawing, scientific illustration, graphic drawing, applied graphics, airbrushing, and printmaking. Before her studies, she spent a year in London, where she was inspired by both modern and historical influences.

On her travels to Australia, Indonesia, and Thailand, she discovered her passion for the street art culture in Melbourne, which she captured photographically and merged with calligraphic influences to create a photo series.

Über Frida Ds Kunstwerke

When the artist lost her father in May 2022, she processed this loss through a series of pastel-colored paintings, finding both joy and comfort in the process. She developed her own style and experimented with a variety of forms and techniques. While she had always assumed that she should excel at creating naturalistic works, something that never truly brought her joy, she realized that she found happiness in simply following the flow of her thoughts and her hands.
