How to Fix Warped Canvas Frames Easily and Affordably
Asymmetric tension in stretched canvas can cause the canvas and stretcher frame to warp, resulting in one corner sticking diagonally away from the wall. This is unappealing both from the front and especially from the side. Here's how you can address this issue effectively.

How to Fix Warped Stretcher Frames
For minor tension issues, sometimes simply applying diagonal pressure in the opposite direction on the stretcher frame is enough to restore the balance of forces. Gently pull with one hand while pressing with the other until the stretcher frame and canvas lie flat again. If this doesn’t work, however, the tension is likely more severe and cannot be corrected without technical tools. It's important to note that tools like brackets, angles, triangles, moldings, tension wires, and other seemingly helpful devices can safely be ignored—they won’t ultimately solve the problem. The solution is much simpler and unobtrusive, yet highly effective. By adding two small wedges at the correct corners of the stretcher frame, the canvas will be perfectly aligned. Please note that wedges from the hardware store are not suitable, as they do not have the correct dimensions.
