Renate Magrean
Born in 1956 in Aachen, the artist has pursued a journey of creative exploration across various mediums and techniques. Between 1985 and 1989, she studied watercolor and oil painting under H. Krott in Aachen. From 1989 to 1991, she expanded her artistic repertoire with clay work in Roetgen. In 1994, she established her own studio in Roetgen and, since 1995, has focused on creating works in oil and acrylic.

Renate Magrean’s Painting
Renate Magrean’s artwork reflects the transformation of inner states and experiences with nature. Her paintings embody an aesthetic quest that combines delicacy and sensitivity in her use of color. Inspired by the landscapes of the Eifel region, her work captures moments of happiness found in encounters with nature. Magrean addresses the wounds inflicted on nature by humanity, restoring them to an idealized state of pristine natural beauty.
Prof. Michael Schulze emphasizes that Magrean’s work portrays landscapes without seeking to define them, allowing art to follow its own laws. The interface between nature and art becomes the landscape itself—a medium to make the world and the self tangible. Her paintings translate transience into permanence, becoming frozen moments that reflect both our imagination and the infinite space of our consciousness.
