Biography of Denis Yashin
Denis Yashin, a media and sound artist from Novosibirsk, has been living and working in Vienna for over 15 years. During and after his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts, his focus was primarily on sound and electronic music. Since 2022, he has also been working on a painting project titled “Making Sound Visible, which can be seen as a continuation of his work with sound.
In addition to the Sine Waves series, there are now several other pieces that were created using both his own sound compositions and popular music by various artists.

Making Sound Visible / Sine Waves
In his project Making Sound Visible, Vienna-based artist Denis Yashin explores the physical transmission of sound onto canvas and other analog media.
The paintings in the Sine Waves series are visualizations of simple sine waves that have transformed into images through their own vibration.
Precisely because the sine wave is inherently a simple and monotonous sound, the Sine Waves series also represents an attempt to create a complex and colorful world from that simplicity
