Patrick Quinot
Painter from Belgien
"Ein Künstler ist nicht die Frucht des Zufalls. Es ist ein ganzer Weg, ein Weg, auf dem nichts zufällig ist. Für manche ist Kunst ein Vergnügen oder ein Hobby, gleichbedeutend mit Ablenkung, für andere kann sie auch therapeutisch sein." - Patrick Quinot
Biography of Patrick Quinot
Studies at the Académie des Beaux-Arts de Namur
Graduated "summa cum laude"
The Belgian artist Patrick Quinot was born on May 6, 1963, in Namur. He lives and works as a freelance artist in Namur, Belgium. He is the only son of a family from the Gaume and Flanders regions. One of Belgium’s unique characteristics is its bilingualism—sometimes even trilingualism—where half of the country does not speak the same language. These cultural and linguistic differences also influence art, which does not share a singular origin. The influence of Flemish painting from the north contrasts with the rich Italian painting traditions from the south.
Belgium’s history has produced many artistic pioneers. Quinot’s studies were guided by various Belgian artists, some of whom helped him develop his understanding of painting. The influence of René Magritte was particularly significant, but artists such as Bruegel, Constant Permeke, Rubens, Henri Michaux, Paul Delvaux, and even Félicien Rops from his hometown were present throughout his studies.

About the art of Patrick Quinot
His paintings with geometric shapes create the impression that they were captured at the very moment of movement, a pose, or a frozen instant. Patrick Quinot is a rising artist who expresses his creativity through a bold and vibrant color palette, contrasting with his dynamic choice of subjects.
Against the backdrop of impermanence, he states that his paintings truly belong to him only for the brief duration of their creation. This is why he enjoys discussing his work with visitors at his open studio, located in the heart of the pedestrian zone in his hometown of Namur—without ever fully revealing himself. His paintings are meant to be free, offering space above all for personal interpretations and inspiration.
