Biography of Yan Rechtmann
Born in Guangdong, People’s Republic of China
- 1986-1989: Studied at Zhongshan University and the Academy of Fine Arts in Canton, China
- 1989-1997: Studied at the University of Passau
- 1991-1994: Research assistant at the Chair of Prof. Dr. Manthe, University of Passau
- 1994: State-certified translator and interpreter, certified by the Bavarian Ministry of Culture in Munich
- 2001: Lecturer in Chinese painting at the private school Huayin in Frankfurt/Main
- Since 2005: Member of the Professional Association of Visual Artists (BBK Frankfurt/Main)
- Since 1997: Working as a freelance painter and art teacher
- Since 2001: Translator, interpreter, and art consultant for the City of Frankfurt and Bad Homburg, facilitating cultural exchange programs between Germany and China
- Since 2006: Freelance art consultant for Hessian Broadcasting (HR) for the 3sat/Arte film series *"Travel Routes to Art"*
- 2008: Part of an art and business delegation to Guangzhou, China, alongside Frankfurt’s Mayor, Petra Roth
- Since 2012: Licensed auctioneer (§34b GewO, Bad Homburg Regulatory Office), specializing in Asian art and serving as an appraiser for art and antiques in general
