Biography of Gundula Heimes
Born: 1964 in Bielefeld
1985 - 1992: Apprenticeship in tailoring and studies in clothing technology
Since 2000: Intensively engaged in painting, with smaller exhibitions in cafés and law firms
2001: Six-month internship at Galerie Samuelis Baumgarte, Bielefeld
Self-taught, with further education in various painting and drawing courses
2022: First major solo exhibition at Galerie Alte Vogtei, Bielefeld
Lives and works in Oerlinghausen near Bielefeld
About the art of Gundula Heimes
Although I love nature, I primarily find my motifs in urban spaces. I enjoy wandering through cities with my camera and use the photos I take as inspiration for my paintings in the studio. I try to create a specific atmosphere in the image, even a certain coolness. I mainly paint with transparent oil paints and love a brushstroke that is clearly visible. A convincing composition of the painting is important to me, as well as vibrancy. The current exhibition is about **people in the digital age**.
