Said Tiraei
Painter from Deutschland
Biography of Said Tiraei
Said Tiraei was born in 1975 in Kabul, the son of a respected and politically active family. He was only fourteen years old when the threatening circumstances that had long plagued his family became unbearable. After his siblings had already been brought to safety, his mother fled their hometown with her youngest son, Said Zobair.
Their journey led them first to Nepal, and in 1990, to Pakistan. There, the painter and teacher Nassir Amidi discovered the young Said and took him on as a student. Said Zobair learned how to transform thoughts and emotions into colors and shapes. Pencil drawings, oil and chalk, the study of color and form perspectives all were part of his artistic training. But above all, the focus was on perceiving and expressing both external and internal realities.
In 1991, his education continued in India. Immersing himself in Indian culture especially as embodied in the architecture of the Taj Mahal was essential. He learned to perceive emotional sensations and conflicts, to allow them, and to express them artistically to let soul messages flow.
Today, the contrast between cultures, countries, and people still lives vividly within him. His technique has become more refined; transitions between contrasting colors and forms have grown softer, the oppositions deeper yet more peaceful.
