About the art of Gabriele Goerke
"It is simply in the nature of the moment not to be permanent, to focus on a brief moment of perception in which we sharpen all our senses to experience it. This is exactly what Gabriele Goerke does in her painting. She allows us to experience the eternal and timeless nature in a deeply felt moment of her perception. It may only be a moment of seeing, but still, the viewer is able to continue that moment with their imagination, walking that path further, hearing that rustling continue, and seeing that light change..." Gabriele Goerke on her artworks:
"My so-called landscape paintings do not depict a landscape but are the painted internalization of what I have experienced, lived through, and felt. What I saw remains like the echo of a melody—an inspiration and motivation for my visual world. The atmospheric moods in nature, the shadows and sunspots, dramatic cloud-filled skies, light and dark, loud and quiet, all of this stimulates me and allows me to be in the world. It is a kind of joyful melancholy that I feel when I immerse myself in the light, the wind, and the clouds, all the way to the horizon, or even just to the next tree. It’s simply my theme, and every day, every walk, is different and must be traversed anew. Thus, for me, the landscape becomes the anticipation of the work."
