Biography of Günter Hornung
Günter Hornung, born in 1958 in Cologne, Germany, was a student of the Mannheim-based art educator and performance artist Tom Feritsch. After completing his studies, he continued his painting education in 2002 under Friedhelm Boomers, a lecturer in Karlsruhe and Stuttgart. Today, the painter lives and works in his studio courtyard in Gerolsheim, Pfalz.
Since 2000, Hornung has participated in numerous group exhibitions and has held several solo exhibitions in Germany, Luxembourg, and Switzerland. He works on three major thematic cycles: "Urbanity," "Mobility," and "Sports Inside." His artwork primarily focuses on powerful sports imagery, where he attempts to capture the full dynamism of vibrant sports scenes.
Hornung has been a member of the artist group Rondo and the Gerolsheim Art Circle since 2008, a member of the Mannheim Painting Group "Freie Malerei" since 2009, and a member of the artist association Kunstrefugium in Munich since 2010.
