About the art of Martina Briebach-Schütte
Inspired by art therapy, I process my daily experiences with all of my senses in my **abstract paintings**. Materials that seem seemingly useless or discarded are employed, which I re-contextualize through the use of color. My playful, experimental approach allows the materials and colors to take their own paths, which I embrace and continue to shape throughout the process. The abstract paintings create a new context and open up new spaces where we can encounter ourselves and the world in which we live.
"As a child, I always found and collected things that fascinated me, even if they had no material value."
In her current work, she is guided by her own impulses, which, like those of a playful child, initially have no clear goal or purpose. This intuitive approach is shaped by a deep engagement with Schiller’s "concept of play" and her work as an art therapist. She achieves this most effectively when as many senses as possible are involved in her work.
